Halaiki on Obinna Show Live

Meet Bashir Kiptoo popularly known as Halaiki, the aeronautical engineer turned roastmaster supreme, radio rebel, and podcaster. In a fun chat with Oga Obinna, this funny act from Eldoret shares why he left engineering and jumped into laughs. It’s a story full of real talk and big grins.

Why not build planes anymore?

“In Kenya, we don’t make planes, and neither does Africa,” Halaiki said with a laugh. Back in high school, he picked the course without knowing the job market. “You choose those subjects, but you don’t know where the jobs are.” No flying machines here, but that’s okay Halaiki found his wings in comedy. It’s a smart switch many graduates understand that dreams change when life hits.

His roasts? They’re fire! He picks on Bolo Bespoke and Mueni, joking about how Kenyans make even tailors famous. “These days, you guys turn craftsmen into stars. But you get it, Oga Obinna it’s business. Sometimes, you even eat the deposit money.” It’s shade with respect for the hustle. Halaiki loves roasting Eric Omondi best. Why? That crazy clown and wild skits that changed Kenyan laugh industry.

From a big family with more than one wife, Halaiki keeps it real. “I could try a polygamous family if I can handle it,” he says. No drama just about keeping things balanced, like he learned at home.

His podcast with Kisiangani started by chance on live radio. “Kisiangani was on air and turned it into a podcast. He had some comedians, but his mom was sick. We teamed up, and fans wanted more of me.” No plans or scripts just good vibes and real chats. It’s messy fun that pulls people in.

Radio isn’t dead, says Halaiki. “My show, Radio Generation, is only 4 months old. It’s online now.” His podcast skills got him the gig. A friend named Emmanuel hooked him up for the 7-10 p.m. slot. Late nights? Full of music, stories, and jokes.

Halaiki’s tale shows how to bounce back. From no-job to cheering crowds, he is a proof of the laugh hard, live big adage.
